We will host hybrid event this year with an in-person VIP event. The in person VIP (Gold sponsors and above) is currently limited to 500 attendees. Currently, all attendees will need to be 2 weeks removed from full vaccination or have proof of a negative COVID-19 test.

SCOUTPOWER 2021 Speaker
COL Michael Fossum, USAFR (ret.)
Michael Fossum has had a career as big as his Texas roots. A veteran of three space flights he has logged over 194 days in space including a total of 48 hours over seven space walks. In 2011 he commanded the 29th mission of the International Space Station, a facility he helped build and repair. Prior to that he was a veteran of two missions of Space Shuttle Discovery including the return to space mission following the Challenger tragedy.
He was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force in 1980 when he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University. He a graduate of the USAF Test Pilot School and has over 2,000 hours in 35 different types of aircraft. He went on to earn a Master of Science in Systems Engineering and Physical Science/Space Science. He has served in numerous senior leadership roles at NASA.
As a proud Aggie Mike retired from nineteen years at NASA in 2017 when the opportunity to assume his latest mission presented itself. Mike is currently Vice President of Texas A&M and Chief Operating Officer of the Galveston Campus.
Mike is a lifelong Scouter, a recipient of the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award, a former Scoutmaster and even promoted the BSA’s STEM Award while floating weightless in space. He is passionate about the value of Scouting and credits the program with unlocking the future to countless youth across the globe. He is a recognized ambassador for Scouting throughout the world.
Mike was born in South Dakota, raised in Texas and married his Aggie sweetheart, the former Melanie London, also Class of ’80. They have four children and seven grandchildren.
