The OA provides an excellent opportunity for its members to develop leadership skills There are many positions at the lodge and chapter level that need to be filled so getting involved in the workings of the lodge is not difficult.

The Lodge Executive Committee (LEC) is composed of youth members elected by their brothers to oversee operation of the lodge. There are six officer positions and below that committee chairmen and chapter chiefs who all have votes on the LEC and administer different aspects of the lodge.

If you think you might be interested in joining a committee or becoming active in your chapter, just email the lodge Lodge Advisor and the appropriate person will contact you. Include in your email your name, address, and phone number.

Shadow Clan

The Shadow Clan Patch is a recognition given each year to those arrowmen who've shown noteworthy service to and involvement in Kayanernh-Kowa Lodge and the Order of the Arrow. To earn the patch you must complete the Shadow Clan Requirements Sheet available on the lodge website. A system which awards points for different levels of service and participation is employed. You must earn a total of 100 points each year to be eligible for a patch.

The first year you qualify you will earn a patch with a red border. The second year the patch has a blue border. The third year a green border patch is awarded. The fourth year border color is purple. The border colors are then repeated for the fifth and subsequent years. A special one-time black border patch was given to those who earned Shadow Clan points in the early years as founders of the lodge

For more information on what the Order of the Arrow is all about, the National OA Website has a program to introduce the meaning of the Order of the Arrow to the new arrowmen. You will need your OA Handbook you received at your Ordeal to enter the JumpStart Site.
