2012 Spring Camporee

The 2012 Spring Camporee for Oneida District is fast approaching.  We are still actively looking for a unit to host this event.  Please consider hosting and organizing this event with your unit.  It is a lot of work but it is a great project for the unit and the SPLs to organize and host an event for your fellow district units.  Events conceived by the boys and organized by the units are more original and unique with a stronger program than events organized adhoc by the district.  If your troop is interested in hosting one of these events please contact me via phone/email or at the monthly roundtable.

Remember, it is your participation that makes for a viable and interesting district events program for the year.

Thanks,

New Tour Plan In Effect March 1st

Effective March 1, 2011, what are currently known as local and national tour permits will be super-seded by what will be called the tour plan.
The online tour permit system will be sus-pended.
This update is the accumulation of work by a cross-functional team of volunteers and staff including the Health and Safety Support Committee, Council Solutions, Outdoor Program Group, and Risk Management Advisory Panels.
Here is the definition of the tour plan in the Language of Scouting: "Units complete this form when planning for local, national, or international adventure. The plan helps ensure the unit is properly prepared, that qualified and trained leadership is in place, and that the right equipment is available for the adventure."

Annual Health and Medical Record Update

The latest update to the record consolidates all records from the National Council and the three national high-adventure base forms, enabling a single medical form to be used across all BSA activities. The new form, bin No. 680-001, supersedes the previous, cata-log No. 34605; this new item should be phased in immediately as it renders the old forms obsolete. The Annual Health and Medical Record is required for participation in all Scouting events, including day and resident camps and high-adventure bases. It should be updated no less than annually.
