Nature, STEM, Trailblazers & Scoutcraft

At Sabattis Scout Reservation we fuel the natural wonder in all. From learning of the world that surrounds us, or the space beyond. Nature, its merit badges and activities will allow you to explore the natural beauty and wonder of the world. You can learn not only about the animals and plants found locally in the Adirondacks and otherwise, but learn about human effects for on such. STEM and its inquisitive merit badges will allow you to experiment with things nearly out of this world. Whether you're looking to understand more about people, about atoms and the nuclear, launch model rockets, you'll have a blast. Looking for something more metal? Try out welding for something quite sparking. With Scoutcraft's merit badges and activities you can truly let your Scouting skills shine. From health focused merit badges to surviving in the wild - you can be like Bear Grylls. Want to test those skills? Make a catapult and see who can launch rocks the furthest. Newer to the Scouting program? Try out our Trailblazers program. Learn valuable skills and awesome new tricks that will help you through not only Scouting but also future endeavors.

Shooting Sports

At Sabattis Scout Reservation, you can choose Archery, Rifle, and/or Shotgun Shooting. Archery will let you polish your skills of the bow, and let you make your own arrow and bowstring to keep! At Rifle Shooting, you’ll learn how to safely clean and shoot firearms. Shotgun will allow to further expand your knowledge and capabilities of firearms shooting in a safe and challenging option. Note: you must be 12 years old to participate in the Rifle Program and 13 for the Shotgun. Our instructors are all top notch and fully qualified to help you become the best!

Water Fun

At Sabattis Scout Reservation, you’re sure to have all the water fun you want. A full range of activities is offered. You can learn to swim or work on merit badges like; Swimming, Lifesaving, Rowing, Canoeing, or Small Boat Sailing. You can earn your BSA Lifeguard certification, paddle in Kayaks; play with Wind Surfers, Paddle-board, or take other aquatic activities!

Challenge Valley

Challenge Valley is an obstacle course where Scouts get a chance to compete against the obstacles and the clock – not each other. They get to climb walls, swing on ropes, splash through a frog pond, wrestle in the mud and much more. At the end of your Troop's run, the muddier the scouts, the better your Troop fares in wining Sabattis Olympics - and taking home the gold (saw cookie).

Leaders are invited to participate (those that don’t join in the fun have been known to get a group hug from their Scouts) and/or take pictures!

Sabattis Olympics

Scouts and Scouters alike, compete as a whole troop or patrols in activities of team exercises, in Sabattis Olympics! Try your skills in Sporting Arrows, Cowboy Action shooting, Catapult build off/shoot off, Water Carnival, Gaga Ball and so much more! Participate in as many activities as your troop wants throughout the week, all to earn points in quest of the gold saw cookie. Placings will be announced at the Friday Court of Honor before the closing campfire. Second and third places get to take home a silver or bronze saw cookie for honors! First prize, for every week, will be a plaque mounted bowie knife with Sabattis' logo and the year engraved!!
